A Day in the Life of an Electric Car Video

( http://www.TFLcar.com ) In the very near future will we all be driving electric cars? That's a question that only 10 years ago seemed like a dream, but today with all electric cars like the 2012 Nissan Leaf, it doesn't seem so far fetched. Of course unlike, gasoline powered cars, electric cars can't be filled up at your local gas station in a few minutes. Once they run our of juice...you are well and truly stuck. This is called range anxiety and it can be all too real. We decide to find out just how real by spending a day in the life of the all new Nissan Leaf.

@romanmicagearguy Sometimes? you just let the haters hate, I mean you guys gave an honest review and it was really entertaining. I'm a German sport/luxury car kid of guy yet I still love these videos just because of your review style, keep it up guys!

Yupp I will take? a ...
Yupp I will take? a Prius. That's good enough for me.

@stephenmaturin2 ...
@stephenmaturin2 At a range that lame It's like driving? my Honda Civic with a 3 gallon gas tank and very few gas stations in which the pumps flow at 1 gallon per hour. It works, but it's a huge pain in the ass if you run out of juice. The only thing holding back electric cars is the battery technology has to get better. Faster charge and longer range is needed.

To be fair it did ...
To be fair it did seem like you guys were trying to put? emphasis on the range anxiety portion of owning an EV. It was not until the 3/4 of the way that you guys briefly mentioned that over 100mi round trip commute is not your typical American one. But people, please watch the whole video before you comment and you'd realize they mentioned that. Hopefully one day it would only take 5 min to charge an EV. Hopefully that one day is soon. Props to Nissan for having balls to put this car out.

Dude you? should ...
Dude you? should calculate you commute .......110 mile was not in you range this not average commute and is not A Day in the Life of an Electric Car.............. buy Tesla

Obviously you guys ...
Obviously you guys don't know how to work with electric car and yes the key fact.... majority of americans drive? 30-40 a? day! electric works.

@shredderbc It ...
@shredderbc It looked like they liked it in this and other videos. Well I for one? enjoyed the video and like the car too.

Here in Hawaii, I ...
Here in Hawaii, I only drive about 15 miles each way so 30 a day. Also gas here is almost 4.50$ a gallon. and I spend about 150 for gas a month averaging 30mpg. I heard according to the Hawaii Electric company it? costs 3 dollars to fully recharge an electric car. So that would cost about 30 dollars a month instead of 150. Thats 120 per month of savings and 1440 of savings a year. That money is enough to get 2 tickets to go to the mainland to see my family there :D

I'm sure many won't ...
I'm sure many won't believe you didn't stage this review, but I think you did a fantastic job of showing what goes through an "average Joe's" mind when attempting to conquer his range anxiety. It's exactly what _I_ go through,? even though I've done one 110 mile trip in sunny SoCal with no extra charge (but traveling about 35-40 MPH the whole way). Once we get more charging infrastructure (and people start charging _reasonably_ for the juice - yes, $1/hr is reasonable), then we'll be good.

Great job on the ...
Great job on the video guys, you made the car look as bad as you could while providing some awesome mis-information.. Im sure the complementary gas cards from chevron? are in the post! Keep up the good work

@romanmicagearguy ...
@romanmicagearguy You guys were fair in your? assessment.

What the hell am I doing living in Florida? This place is not progressive? whatsoever.

@Hirotoro4692 Good ...
@Hirotoro4692 Good point. People often compare? the electric cars coming out today with the "future" possibilities of mythical hydrogen cars. Why not compare mythical hydrogen cars with electric cars of the future too?

@onesleepyshadow ...
@onesleepyshadow And yet a current Prius is at absolute base minimum in comforts and equipment level (you can get satnav and airco on a European supermini easily nowadays), yet costs 5 (!) times as much for only slightly more, usually equal to, sometimes even less of a car- with? more weight, and eventually worse fuel consumption (in the case of hybrids). Don't forget where the energy for your green initiative still comes from- nuclear power stations most likely. These new batteries, how much?

@romanmicagearguy ...
@romanmicagearguy We cannot avoid the fact that Electric battery powered cars are still way behind normal gas or diesel powered cars, thay are good I think mostly for city commutes, but for long travels there is? still no better thing than a fuel car, I think something like the VW diesel or Mazda skyactiv, give very good range and offer great MPGs, without sacrificyng driving enjoyment... I am a car enthusiast and would for now not consider an electric car...

@Cruxalicious You ...
@Cruxalicious You should really follow the field before you make statements like that. There are several? promising battery chemistries on the horizon that store more, weight less, and charge faster. Just last week IBM showed their lithium-air battery that stores 1000x more than current li-ion. With such a high charge density the battery is a fraction of the size and can power a car for 500 miles. IBM is targeting 2020 but others will have smaller advances much sooner.

nissan? should make ...
nissan? should make a full roof solar panel that lets you charge the car when ever there is sun outside

I love Colorado!?
I love Colorado!?

I've had a leaf for ...
I've had a leaf for a year now and have never been that close to running out of power. I've never even *had* to charge to make a return trip. 100 mi round trip work commute (in non-flat terrain no less) is way more than the average person's commute and not a good fit for the Leaf.? You wouldn't use a semi for bringing your family to church, the leaf isn't for long commutes. I have no problems going to work, running errands and making the 50 mile round trip to my GF's house on one charge.

Nice car if you ...
Nice car if you live and work very nearby...otherwise? you'll die of a heart attack from stress. LOL

@Hirotoro4692 No. ...
@Hirotoro4692 No. They won't. Weight is a massive issue with electric cars, batteries weight a f**kload, this is an unsolvable problem unless someone? can invent a battery that offers unlimited energy at almost no weight. And we're probably still a few millenia away from that. Batteries will never achieve the same efficiency as stored hydrogen or fossil fuels can, you can't charge a battery too fast or you'll fry it, are heavy, and have short ranges and lifespans, as a token characteristic.

@romanmicagearguy ...
@romanmicagearguy ...but, would you run low on charge quicker than a 56 year old codger like myself who has owned a 2003 Honda Insight and studied the ancient arcane art? of getting more mileage out of a hybrid without doing dangerous hypermiling tricks? I guess I'll have to someday buy a Leaf then we can compare notes...

@orenyny well for ...
@orenyny well for 99% of the public, daily use doesn't involve driving over 100 miles. Face the facts, people who commute such distances aren't common. As for range anxiety, like any anxiety it can be conquered. Most people will find once they get used to the car and get comfortable with its limitations, they will stop being anxious. Besides, anxiety only comes into play when one plans to drive long? distances.

@NathanDAdlen ...
@NathanDAdlen Thanks for the video, man. Keep up the good work and keep dispelling any and all false preconceptions about this car. You the dude who napped? on the bench? Looks like your workout hit a plateau; get some protein shakes and creatine!

@Cruxalicious You ...
@Cruxalicious You do know that by the time hydrogen fuel cells catch on, battery plug in EV's will have had plenty? of time to also develop in that same space of time?

@romanmicagearguy ...
@romanmicagearguy I'm of a mind that until hydrogen fuel cell EVs get off the ground and some hydrogen fuel stations pop out of the ground, it simply won't be a viable alternative. I know you Yanks don't get 'em, but being European I got a Citroën C1, and by keeping things simple and not adding too much weight, you get a peppy, energetic li'l thing that still does? 55-60 miles per gallon (roughly converted, but I've done it between those variables) and comes with internal combustion convenience.

If I lived in ...
If I lived in warmer part of the country and in the city, I would consider to buy? this economical urban practical vehicle. But since I am in situation when I have to go far occasionally and it is cold in many times forget about it. May be I will considering in 2040, not now folks.

@romanmicagearguy ...
@romanmicagearguy Man you guys need to test out the Tesla model s I bet you would love? too it would so change your views of electric cars and there everyday driving time characteristics! I mean the Tesla s has three big led screens with 3 Nvidia microprocessors and ios, the range is 300 miles and with quick charge it only takes 45 minutes to fully charge it and so it beats all cars that exist!

@nemonetworkmedia ...
@nemonetworkmedia 50? Me? Uh - no. We proved that, despite the limited range, the Leaf CAN be an everyday commuter...? as long as you do not need to commute past its range envelope. Did you not see the end of the video? I think the "younger" generation will embrace all sorts of alternative power. Bio-fuel, diesel hybrids and hydrogen too. I think these young rascals are smart enough to embrace more than one power source. Thanks for watching.
